Felicia Can Sing More Than Just Show Tunes!

by Matheson Kamin

When you have the right amount of acting ability, you can get many parts in plays and movies. If you have the right amount of singing ability, you can make it big in the music industry. But it is the people with the right amount of acting and singing ability that get the most parts on Broadway.

That is the case with Felicia Finley: Felicia Finley is an actor/singer that has appeared in many shows on Broadway, including “Aida”, “Smokey Joe’s Café,” and “The Wedding Singer”. Plus you can also catch on the big screen, as well.

Recently, Felicia Finley took the next step in her career by adding “recording artist” to her credits. She has recently recorded a new album entitled “Great Mood For a Tuesday”. That album was just released on CD and will shortly be available for download.

When you think of albums that have been recorded by Broadway stars, the first thing that usually would pop into your head would be “show tunes”. The songs contained on that type of album are usually tunes that most Broadway fans would be very familiar with. And they are usually things that the recording artist has sung hundreds of times throughout their career.

But that is where “Great Mood For a Tuesday” differs from other albums recorded by other Broadway stars: The new album from Felicia Finley contains no Broadway songs; it contains no show tunes; in fact, it contains no songs from movie soundtracks, either. Each of the songs on the album is an original composition that was written by the musicians that appear on the album.

A typical release from a Broadway star is usually an album that contains lightweight, or “easy listening” music, but not “Great Mood For a Tuesday” from Felicia Finley. On this release, the actor/singer is able to let loose and give he inner “rock star” the chance to shine though.

And to help that inner “rock star” shine through, four talented musicians helped her to create the album. Joining her in song are: musical arranger Chris Blisset who played guitar, keyboards, harmonica, backing vocals, and the all-important cow bell; Paul Stancato on drums; Ian Bentley on bass, who also produced the album; and Matt Uremovich, who added some acoustic guitar. Along with adding some guitar, Uremovich also had much to do with the creation of the album, as he was the main songwriter of the songs included in the release.

The album starts off with Satin Soldiers, a strong rock song that lets Felicia shown off how strong her voice can be. Other songs on the release that show off that strength include: My House Tonight, and Fire Escape. And while the remaining songs aren’t as rockin’, the rest of the album still allows Felicia to stretch as a singer. The album even includes one song that was penned by Felicia, that song is Blanket.
As an actor, Felicia Finley is always busy doing something. You can always find her in some sort of role, whether on the stage or on the big screen. The fact that she is always busy keeps her in demand.

But it is her newly released CD entitled “Great Mood For a Tuesday” that is currently getting her some attention. Whether on disc or as a download, “Great Mood For a Tuesday” is worth checking out. And the album proves that Felicia can sing more than just show tunes; when she gets the chance, she can “rock”.
